3 Hot 45s to Prepare for Summer

The weather is warming up so we are taking things south to Miami, FL with our first 45 on this post from female vocalist, Paulette Reaves. You are going to be really impressed by this one. Following Reaves are two more powerful 45s with last names also starting with “R” by Jimmy Robins and Ann Robinson. Don’t skip over this list!

“Queen of the Midnight Hours” from Paulette Reaves is hotter than anything I’ve heard in a long time! She really had something special going on during the 1970s and her backing band is worth checking out too. The mix on this 45 is remarkable, just listen to those drums and harmonies!

Three 45s from the 60s Produced in NYC

April is apparently the month of New York because we’ve got three 45s hailing from NYC that are absolutely on fire! This month’s roster includes Bobby Moore and the Formosts, Clyde McPhatter and Bobby Milano. Read until the end for an interesting snippet about one of our featured artists. 


 

Bobby Moore and the Formosts: Girl You Do Something to Me / It Was a Lie

A Side: Girl You Do Something to Me

You won’t find much information about Bobby Moore and the Formosts while searching on the web, but that’s why we’ve brought you the only thing you need right here at Parker’s records - the 45 itself! This 45 has an upbeat track on side A and a slower ballad on side B. You have to assume it is more than pure coincidence “It Was A Lie” is on side B, as the tune is likely about a love that seemed so strong, but turned out differently. Check it out below.

McPhatter is no stranger to the spotlight. He’s often considered one of the most influential rhythm and blues singers, having performed with groups like The Drifters and Billy Ward and his Dominoes. “Baby You’ve Got It” will have you intrigued from the first hit with its infectious tom fill and McPhatter’s voice will have you entertained the entire tune.

Bobby Milano: Out of this World / Without Your Love


Label: Talmu 310. Released 1967 New York, NY (1966-1968).

A Side: Baby You’ve Got It

B Side: Baby I Could Be So Good At Lovin’ You

 

Born in Buffalo, NY Bobby Milano’s real name was actually Charles J. Caci. Milano was a singer, producer, and actor during his career before passing of liver cancer in 2006. Although not incredibly famous, Milano had quite the entertainment career. He was signed by Capital Records, sold a number of top selling records, was friend with Frank Sinatra, and starred in a number of films. Unfortunately, in 1967 Milano was sentenced to prison for mob activity. You can read the full story here.
